What help can we Provide?

We provide several levels of help to you! The help we can provide for you may depend on your needs, and the phase of recovery you are in

Initial Connection and Support

  • Mentor Assignment- Immediate connection with someone who has been through a similar injury. They provide practical, functional, and emotional support immediately

  • Medical Identification and Connection- Connect you to a great care team, including a physician, a rehab professional, and others, as appropriate at this stage

  • Resource Identificaton and Connection- Identify your physical and emotional needs, such as identifying and fulfilling immediate needs, such as meals, transportation for you or family, pet care, or childcare.

  • Insurance/Legal Help- The world of insurance and legality can be a mess. We have individuals who are able to answer many of your questions, and give some guidance right away

  • Access to Support Groups- Start attending our support groups right away, whether in-person or virtual, to get connections to a great support team, and to start to identify mindset focuses as soon as possible

Pre-Surgery/Recovery Preparation

  • Appointment Companion- Have someone come to your appointment with you, who knows what questions to ask, can be there for moral support, help you identify your questions, and help advocate for you during your appointment

  • Home Preparation- If you are preparing for surgery, we will provide some tips and resources for how to best prepare your home, living situation, items to get, etc to help your post-op time be as smooth as possible

Post-Surgery/Immediate Recovery, or Immediately after Injury

  • Functional Living Tips: We will provide you with helpful hints and tricks our mentors have learned on how to best live with your restrictions. Not sure how to shower without your shoulder, we’ve got some advice! How do you shower after hip surgery, we have some ideas for you!

  • Continued Resources: Continue getting help with things such as meals, house cleaning, pet care, childcare, etc. that you are unable to do yourself

  • Family Education and Resources: If you live with family, they may want to help, but don’t really know the best way to do so. Or, they may have things that they need help with, without you as able to provide. We will provide education to them on how to best assist you, and help provide resources to them

Ongoing Recovery and Support

  • Ongoing Mentorship: You will stay connected to your mentor, who will help you transition back into your new normal of living. They will help you navigate the next steps of your recovery journey

  • Support Groups: You will continue to have access to an amazing community of individuals to help you navigate all stages of your recovery. Rarely is that journey linear, and we will continue to stay with you through all the ups and the downs

  • Fitness and Wellness: Focusing on the whole body, not only on the injured area, is absolutely essential to maintaining a healthy body and mind. We will connect you to resources to continue to feel healthy and to feel like yourself as much as possible

Long-Term Connection and Well-Being

If you are able to heal 100% of the way, we still want you to stay connected! Even if you are still in your healing process, we would love to have you step up into a mentorship process, to help the next individual who has gone through something similar. We will continue to help connect you with the resources you need, even years after your injury. This group can truly become your family.
